Saffron Walden has such a timeless charm - cobbled streets, pastel buildings, and a relaxed, countryside atmosphere that feels miles away from the city. Nestled in the heart of Essex, it’s one of my favourite places to photograph smaller, heartfelt weddings that balance tradition with a relaxed sense of celebration.
This beautiful day began at Saffron Walden Town Hall in the market square before we wandered through Bridge End Gardens for portraits, ending with a marquee reception by The Cambridge Tent Company. It was everything I love about local weddings - simple, stylish, and full of joy.
A Ceremony at Saffron Walden Town Hall
The Old Town Hall sits proudly in the middle of the market square, surrounded by independent shops and cafés. Inside, its light-filled ceremony room provides the perfect backdrop for intimate celebrations.

The morning began nearby, where Hannah got ready with her closest friends and family before walking to the ceremony. The atmosphere was calm, full of quiet excitement and natural laughter - exactly the kind of moments that unfold beautifully in documentary photography.
As guests gathered, sunlight poured through the tall windows of the Town Hall. After a heartfelt ceremony, Hannah and Sam were showered with confetti on the steps outside, one of my favourite scenes to photograph in Saffron Walden.
Bridge End Gardens Wedding Photography
Just a short walk from the market square, Bridge End Gardens is a hidden gem for wedding portraits. With its manicured hedges, flower-lined pathways, and soft English light, it’s a dream location for relaxed, natural photos.

We wandered through the gardens without rushing, stopping occasionally when the light caught perfectly between the trees. The result was a set of portraits that felt calm, romantic, and true to the day, nothing overly posed, just genuine connection in a beautiful setting.
Whether you’re marrying at the Town Hall or nearby, Bridge End Gardens is the ideal place for timeless, elegant wedding photos in Saffron Walden.
A Marquee Reception by The Cambridge Tent Company

For the evening reception, The Cambridge Tent Company set up a beautiful marquee filled with greenery, soft draping, and strings of lights. Guests gathered for speeches, drinks, and dancing as the sun began to set — that golden hour glow that every photographer dreams of.
It was the perfect blend of elegance and ease: a quintessentially English marquee wedding with a relaxed atmosphere that suited Hannah and Sam perfectly.
